Artist Workshop: Hands-on Encaustic Painting Workshop led by Kelly McGrath, Instructional Support Technician in Sculpture at SUNY New Paltz. This creative session focuses on encaustic painting techniques with an emphasis on stencils and texture.
All experience levels are welcome to join and explore this unique medium under Kelly’s guidance. Spaces are limited to 20 participants, register here.

Artist Talk: Join SUNY New Paltz Sculpture Faculty and current and former students in a conversation on the relationship between teaching and creating. Building on the reflections included in the exhibition In and Out of Lineage: Tracing Artistic Heritage Through SUNY New Paltz Faculty on artistic lineage from each of the artists, this event will further illuminate the reciprocal relationship between mentor and mentee in the transfer of knowledge and inspiration by examining projects embarked on as collaborations between professors and students.

Panel Discussion: Miscommunication, Interpretation, and Translating Artists’ Words, explores how tone, word choice, censorship, power dynamics, and more have come into play when translating Andy Warhol’s words. Join three SUNY New Paltz faculty, Reva Wolf (Art History), editor of the recently published Translating Warhol, Michelle Woods (English), co-editor of the Bloomsbury Academic book series Literatures, Cultures, Translation, and Mercedes Rooney (Languages, Literatures & Cultures), translator of the essay Warhol in French, for an illuminating interdisciplinary conversation regarding what translation can reveal about historical biases and cultural transmission.
